Even at present period, Kutch surrounded by the three seas, on the western border area of Indian and topographically having more than 40% the desert, is economically, socially and educationally very backward area. If so is the condition, then it is beyond imagination to think of Kutch’s social and educational condition decades ago. The Muslims of Kutch were far off the religious awareness in absence of education and clerics and consequently the situation arose in such a way that, the deeds or acts which were contrary to “sharia” were considered good and religious and the non-Islamic custom and traditional were so engraved and to such an extent that they took shape of irretrievably.
In the nonreligious and full of unawareness laden environment, Maulana Alhaj Saiyed Ahmedshah Bukhari, a great religious preacher (who is affectionately called Bawsaheb by the people of Kutch) has enlightened the torch of religious and worldly teachings all over Kutch, through his intense exertion. Even at the age of 87 years, despite the physical difficulties he has, he is still, for the social and educational in the Muslim society, striving in such a way as any youth feels shy.
Bawasaheb was born in 1929 at Mandvi town of Kutch district and in 1945, at very raw age of 16 years, he had began to bring about religious awareness, through his selfless services. After being active for many years in Kutch, he was invited at Zanzibar (east Africa), following his such aim of the religious awareness, where the people greatly impressed by his deed of the religious preaching. After journey to Africa, first in Mumbai and then in Dhoraji town of Gujarat, he completed degree course of Maulvi and in 1964, you achieved another degree for Mufti in vicinity of Hazarat Allama Kibla Ahmedmiya Sahib, Kadri Rajui and Sheikh Hadis Hazarat Allama Kibla Abdul Mustafa Sabeb Azmi, the learned personalities out of several learned and respected personalities of Indian and thereafter, he engaged himself for services to dim, with double force and enthusiasm.
After the year 1985, Bawasabeb also traveled to Africa all again, in the years 1972, 1976, 1981 and 1987, for the purpose of rendering service-works to diti. While coming back from his last journey to Africa, he also made a traveling of Pakistan.
In the course of your first journey to Africa, His good self had published a book named Ahakame-Ramzan & Rozani Shaan” and in the fourth journey in Mombassa and in the fifth one, your good self founded Kutchi Anjun ehale sunnat and one darul ulum, respectively.
His good self has also translated books like Sirt-e-Mustafa & Jannati Zevar into Gujarati language. Your good self has also written several books as Ruhe Islam, Rae Islam, Fatwa-e-Kadariya, Hayat-e-Imame Azam, Fatwa-e-Rugate Hilal, Milade Nabi and Tohaf-e-Kadariya and several books and have been distributed free of charge.
By virtue of his and only his honest attempts, the orphanage “Yateemkhana Ahle Sunnat” for looking after the orphan children in Bhuj, the capital city of Kutch and other one “Darul Yatama Lil Banat” for orphan girls in Mandvi town were founded. Even today, these institutions hold the respectable place in Gujarat, for their straight and honest activities many institutions like these one have also been established by your honest attempts two institutions at Dayapar in Kutch, namely madresa “Anvarul Ulum” and “Madresatu Noaman Imam Azam” have been established to render services of free lodging and boarding to over 150 children in these.
In addition to this, one madresa “Anvare Mustafa” at Kervandh in Abdasa tehasil rendering services of the lodging and boarding together with the training of Diti to over 150 students and another one “Gulzare Mahemdi” in Bhuj (where over 450 students are learning) have also been established.
Following the very honest and selfless attempts of Bawasaheb, over 125 small and large madresas and over 100 Masjids have been brought into existence in Kutch.
Besides, the madresas established by his good self are also running government recognized primary school of Gujarati and English medium schools and the computer training classes.
Following his industriality of 8 decades, custom and traditions of irreligiousness have been ceased by themselves. The religious awareness torch is spreading. Muslim are making progress in diti and worldly educational field.
At present, imposing madresas and grand Masjids has been founded in every village of Kutch.
The Muslim educational institutions cover the vast area of Kutch district. Everything in Islam has been attracted to its own colour, abandoning that one of the west of new age.
By virtue of very his attempts, Kutch is presently developing educationally, religiously and socially and Inshaallah! The new generation of future would be an ideal Muslim society.
